Following an attack by gunmen against its offices, Sebha Local Council has suspended its work.

“It’s not the first assault. We’ve seen a series of attacks earlier this year”, Deputy Council Leader Azideen Eiffa told the Libya Herald today. Eiffa added that a hand grenade had also been thrown at the Sebha offices of Libya Al-Watania TV causing slight damage, but again no casualties.

No one was injured in the attack. But given the insecurity it was unreasonable to expect council employees to work in such conditions.

“We’re on strike,” he said. “We have the right to do so. We demand greater protection for our employees.”
